Deanes Mission - Day Five

Hello Everyone

Well today was the last day of the Extreme week but certainly not the end of it. It was a good day with the TCC guys taking two year 9 lessons talking about drugs, sex, hell, heaven, abortion, homosexuality and loads more they have gone really well.

The girls where busy doing dance, drama and music. Today we also had the lunchtime concert which was well attended and went well, with loads of the young people joining in with the dance moves.

So what is next now?

We are doing the follow up concert next wednesday at the Church, which we are hoping to see loads of the young people come along and then attend Extreme which is being run within Radiate Tuesday and Ignition. So this is only the start....

Please Pray.

1 - The Deanes teachers are meeting next week to review the week, please pray that the meeting is postive and that we recieve feedback that is constructive in making Extreme and our work as a Church a really valuable thing for the school

2 - I will also be back in the school on Monday for the Christian Union, please pray that this is another way to follow up our work

3 - I will be meeting with the head of RE next week to book lessons on Christmas, please pray that I get to see all the Year 7's again and comtinue to build relationships with them.

4 - For rest and inspiration for the team over the weekend, Myself, Dave, Steve, Andy, Alison, Sophie, Kat, Laura and Vicky

Deanes Mission - Day Four

Hey Guys

Well today has been intresting for us guys we have been doing some intresting re lessons, Dave Pickett joined us for a year 9 lesson, which was quite tuff! as the pupils where asking questions but not listening to our answers which made it seem like the lesson went on for ever!

The year 7 and 8 lessons have been fun, tomorrow we have just a couple of year 9 lessons, as we have now seen all of the year 8 and 7's. Tomorrow is also the lunchtime concert.

Points to pray for.

1. The lunchtime concert tomorrow
2. The year 7 assembly tomorrow
3. That our ignition kids will find it cool to stand up for God
4. For general relationships to last beyond this week
5. To start to pray for the follow up concert next wednesday (7th November)
6. Also for the firework event this Saturday.

Many thanks
Richard

Deanes Mission - Day Three

Hey guys, well its the end of another day in the school and here is some feedback...

Today was abit of a different day for all of us, with less lessons but still a chance for us to interact with the pupils.

Myself and Dave did a lesson first thing on the existance of God, and then this afternoon, Dave Turner and Dave Pickett joined us for a lesson with the year 9's which was simply a lesson allowing them to ask us questions about anything. We covered Abortion, Homosexuality, War, Religion and the idea of God.

Lunchtimes and breaktimes continue to be a good time to chat with pupils, with Collective being able to talk to some year 11's that where giving them trouble yesterday, which helped in building relationships.

So all in all, it has been a good day.

Please prayer.

1. That the pupils start to engage with the idea of coming along to the follow up at the Church.
2. That the relationships continue to be built
3. That a postive change can be made in the school.

Many thanks
Richard

Deanes Mission - Day Two

Hi Guys

Sorry for the late update on yesterday, but it was a busy day with a full day in the school and then Ignition the youth club.

Steve writes........

Wow getting up early was a challenge for me! eagerly awaiting my cheauffeur (richard) to pick me up. I finished off my orange juice and then got dressed into my colourful schools work outfit! This is a very importnat part of preperation making sure me and Richard are macthing.

Anyway... in the morning me and Richard were leading three year7 lessons on "does God exsist"- many positives came out from the lessons. Firstly, the kids were always listerning and provoked by our experiences with God and the fact that God is closer than they think.

Me, Rich and collective had a productive lunch time building relationships with the kids. And kids we aready work with excitied by our attendance.

The day finished with an assembly for year10's. Me and rich pulled of a good sketch on what it means to be a Christian. And the Girls motivated the year into interacting well with the songs etc.

Things to pray for:

1. Conitued energy and strength for all of us

2. That pupils and teachers would start or continue to see our genuine desire to help and support them.

thankyou

Deanes Mission DAY ONE

Hi Guys, here is an update on todays activties....

First of all its seems right to mention that two guys we meet at Macdonalds on Sunday evening come along to the Sunday night service and they really seemed to enjoy it, and was asking loads of questions, then even went forward for prayer, please pray for them as they said they will come back next week, they go to the Appleton school.

Today in the school has been good, myself Dave and Steve have been taking a mixture of lessons with year 7 and 8's which have gone well, with the year 8s being a bit noisey although we still managed to get the lesson across. The year 7 lessons for us have gone great with us talking about the arguments for their being a God, they seem really intrested.

Collective have been doing a mixture of lessons, including drama, dance and music between them, all have gone fine.

We finished the day with a Year 11 assembly, which was rather loud and possibly abit under the heads of most of the students there.

Still coming up today we have an hour with the girls brigade doing some drama with them as well as a Gospel message.

Tomorrow.

- Me and Steve will be taking three year 7 lessons and a year 8 class, with collective taking a drama lesson, 2 music groups and a year 7 dance lesson

- Collective will also be giving a gospel message tomorrow night at Ignition

- Please pray partically for the lunch and break times when we are in the playground, this is always a good chance to talk to pupils about things

- Please also pray for the teachers we come into contact with.

Many thanks
Richard

On the eve of Mission....

Well its that time again, its the Sunday before a mission week into a School, there is the excitment of it feeling like Christmas, but also the nerves of waiting for an exam!! Its about now that I start to feel like I havent prepared enough, that I have forgotten something and basically im not sure what im doing!

Its an odd feeling, but Im also aware that this week isnt about me, its all for God, it says in the Bible that if we left up Jesus, people will be drawn to him. Thats what we want to do this week!

Please pray....

That Jesus is lifted high
That the lessons go really well
That the students and teachers welcome us in
We see strongholds crushed
Young people experiencing God
And an amazing time

I will update this blog each day with whats going on...

Many thanks
Richard
